Vince Cross

Principal Scientist

Background

E. Vincent (Vince) Cross II joined Galois as a Principal Scientist, bringing over 15 years of experience at the intersection of human-centered AI, human-robot interaction (HRI), and autonomous systems. His research focuses on building trustworthy, adaptive intelligent systems that support human decision-making and physical independence in safety-critical, operational, and healthcare environments.

Prior to Galois, Vince served as a Senior Research Scientist at Charles River Analytics and TRACLabs, and as HCI Discipline Scientist for the NASA Human Research Program. Across his career, he has secured and led over $20M in federal research funding, advancing real-time trust calibration for human-autonomy teams, commercially deployed adaptive VR intelligent tutoring platforms for high-risk workforce training, and socially assistive mobile manipulation robotics frameworks to restore functional independence in rehabilitation and home environments.

Vince holds a Ph.D. and M.Sw.E. in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Auburn University, and a B.S. in Computer Systems Analysis from Miami University
