
Research Engineer
Craig joined Galois in 2026 as a Research Engineer focusing on cryptographic systems and artificial intelligence. Immediately before he joined the team full-time, Galois hosted Craig as its first Hiring Our Heroes Fellow as he transitioned into retirement from the U.S. Army. During this fellowship, he developed a reinforcement learning fine-tuning pipeline to improve language model performance when writing Cryptol specifications. Prior to his fellowship, Craig received the Department of War Chief Information Officer's Silver Team Award for leading the integration and deployment of novel research technology into the Department's cryptographic ecosystem. He earned a Master of Software Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, a B.S. in Software Development and Security from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a B.S. in Legal Studies from American Military University.
Craig's research interests include next-generation cryptographic systems and trustworthy agentic systems. Outside of work, he is a Certified Barbeque Judge and a motorcycle enthusiast.
