Announcing HealthyDocs: A Secure Solution for Healthcare Data Management

Galois is excited to announce the kickoff of HealthyDocs, a groundbreaking project funded by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The ARPA-H funding was awarded to Galois, along with partners at the University of Colorado Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Washington State University.

HealthyDocs aims to solve one of the most pressing challenges in healthcare: our fragmented and vulnerable data ecosystem. The core challenge at hand is one of intertwined data security, interoperability, and usability. With over 6,000 data breaches reported in U.S. healthcare since 2009, and the increasing complexity brought by connected medical devices, disparate health IT providers, and inefficiencies and errors caused by human-in-the-loop data translation, it has become increasingly clear that a better way forward is needed.

With HealthyDocs, Galois is developing a secure platform for automatically integrating and managing data across medical devices and the electronic health record, that reduces attack surfaces and the manual burden of data management while enabling clinicians and researchers to derive new insights and advance patient care, all without exposing sensitive healthcare data.
